No Random Drug Testing For Hawaii Teachers

The issue of randomly testing Hawaii teachers for drugs has been a fiercely fought one for years, but now that fight is over.An agreement was signed Monday afternoon stopping the implementation of a random drug or alcohol testing policy for teachers. Teachers agreed to the program in a 2007 contract, along with a increase in pay, but the Hawaii State Teachers Association has been fighting against starting up the program ever since.

"For the past four years HSTA the ACLU have been challenging the random drug testing," said HSTA President Wil Okabe.
